Autograph letter written to Congregation Tiferes Yisrael in New York requesting financial help. Dated 1938. R. Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik (1875-1941), was the eldest son of R. Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk. Born in Volozhin, he was a close student of his father, as well as his grandfather, the Beis HaLevy. After his marriage, he lived in Brisk where he was well-known as a great scholar. Tragically, murdered with most of his family by the Nazis. Father of R. Moshe Soloveitchik of Switzerland.
