Fascinating autograph letter by R. Malkiel Tzvi Tannenbaum, the famed Divrei Malkiel, to Baron Ginzburg. He writes that he has heard that Baron Ginzburg has a great library of thousands of Seforim, new and old, and he is therefore sending his sefer Divrei Malkiel, parts 1 and 2 bound together, so that they can be included there.
R. Malkiel Tzvi Ha’Levi Tannenbaum (1847-1910), was born in the town of Motele and studied in the great Yeshivos of Volozhin and Eisheshok. After serving as Rav in a few small towns, he was invited in 1887 to serve in the distinguished community of Lomza where he remained until his passing. He received Halachic queries from far and wide and his responsa were published under the title Divrei Malkiel, which remains a classic to this day.

מכתב אוטוגרפי מרתק שכתב ר’ מלכיאל צבי טננבוים, בעל הדברי מלכיאל הנודע, לברון גינזבורג. הוא כותב כי שמע על ספרייתו הענקית של הברון גינזבורג, אשר מונה אלפי ספרים, חדשים וגם ישנים, ואשר על כן הוא שולח לו את ספרו דברי מלכיאל, חלק א וב כרוכים יחד, כדי שיציגם בספרייה.
ר’ מלכיאל צבי הלוי טננבוים (תר”ז- תר”ע, 1847-1910), נולד בעיר מוטלה ולמד בישיבות וואלוז’ין ואיישישוק המעטירות. אחר שכיהן כרב בכמה קהילות קטנות, נקרא בשנת תרמ”ז, 1887 לכהן כרב בקהילת לומז’א המעטירה, משרה בה כיהן עד לפטירתו. ענה לשאלות הלכתיות מכל קצוות הארץ ותשובותיו יצאו לאור בספר דברי מלכיאל. ספרו נחשב לספר יסוד עד ימינו.
