Long autograph letter of novella by R. Alexander Moshe Lapidos, in response to R. Yisroel Yehoshua Trunk, Rav of Kutna and author of the Sefer Yeshuos Malko. On the topics of Chametz on Pesach and Chazakah among others. Published in the Sefer Zikaron for R. Hutner with variations. R. Alexander Moshe Lapidos (1819-1906), was born in Vilna and was known from a young age as the Ilui of Vilna. He studied together with the famed R. Betzalel Ha’Cohen of Vilna from the age of 9. He was close to R. Abele of Vilna and even corresponded with the great R. Akiva Eiger. At the age of 14, he went to study in the Yeshiva of Salant under R. Tzvi Brodie and R. Yisroel Salanter. He then went on to assist R. Yisroel in the founding of the Mussar movement. He served as Rav in Rasein, Grodno and Yannova.

מכתב אוטוגרפי ארוך ובו חידושי תורה שכתב ר’ אלכסנדר משה לפידות, בתשובה לר’ ישראל יהושע טרונק רבה של קוטנא ומחבר הספר ישועות מלכו. בין הנושאים הנידונים – חמץ בפסח, חזקה ועוד. נדפס בספר הזיכרון להר’ הוטנר בשינויים קלים.
ר’ אלכסנדר משה לפידות (תקע”ט- תרס”ו, 1819-1906), נולד בווילנא והתפרסם עוד מצעירות כעילוי מווילנא. למד יחד עם הגאון הנודע ר’ בצלאל הכהן מווילנא כבר מגיל תשע. היה מקורב מאוד לר’ אבלי’ מווילנא ואף התכתב עם הגאון ר’ עקיבא אייגר. בגיל 14 החל ללמוד אצל ר’ צבי ברודי ור’ ישראל סלנטר בישיבת סלנט. לאחר מכן היה מסייע לר’ ישראל בהקמת תנועת המוסר. כיהן כרב ברייזן, גרודנא ויאנובה.
