Historic Psak Beis Din from the renowned Kehilla of Nikolsburg regarding a monetary issue signed by the Rosh Beis Din, R. Menachem Mendel Krochmal and the three Dayanim of the Beis Din.
The Jewish community of Nikolsburg was among the most prominent Kehillos in Europe, dating back to 1421. In the first half of the 16th century, Nikolsburg became the seat of the regional rabbinate of Moravia. Famous Rabbonim who served in Nikolsburg include, R. Menachem Mendel Krochmal, R. Dovid Oppenheim, R. Mordechai Banet, R. Schmelke Horowitz and R. Shimshon Refoel Hirsch.
R. Menachem Mendel Krochmal (d. 1747), served as a Rav in Rustitz, as a Dayan in Cracow and as Rosh Av Beis Din in Nikolsburg. He was one of the most prominent rabbinical leaders of his period and served as member of the famed Va’ad Arba Aratzos. Author of the sefer Tzemach Tzedokah and grandfather of the Tzemach Tzedek (the first).
R. Peretz Ben Chananya (Lipman) served as a Dayan on the Beis Din in Nikolsburg.
R. Mordechai Banet (d. 1725) served as a Dayan on the Beis Din in Nikolsburg. Ancestor of R. Mordechai Banet, Rav of Nikolsburg.
R. Chaim Ben R. Dovid served as a Dayan on the Beis Din in Nikolsburg.

הקהילה היהודית בניקלשבורג הייתה מהגדולות והנכבדות באירופה. תחילתה כבר בשנת קפ”א 1421. בחצי הראשון של המאה ה16 הייתה ניקלשבורג מקום משכנה של הרבנות האזורית מוראביה. בין הרבנים הידועים שכיהנו בניקלשבורג נמנים ר’ מנחם מנדל קרוכמל, ר’ דוד אופנהיים, ר’ מרדכי בנט, ר’ שמעלקא הורוויץ, ור’ שמשון רפאל הירש.
ר’ מנחם מנדל קרוכמל (נפטר בתק”ז 1747), כיהן כרב ברוסטיץ, דיין בקראקא, וראש אב בית דין בניקלשבורג. היה מגדולי מנהיגי התורה בדורו, ושימש כחבר בוועד ארבע הארצות המפורסם. חיבר את הספר צמח צדקה. סביו של הצמח צדק (הראשון).
ר’ פרץ בן חנניה (ליפמן), כיהן כדיין בבית הדין בניקלשבורג.
ר’ מרדכי בנט (נפטר בתפ”ה 1725), כיהן כדיין בבית הדין בניקלשבורג. זקינו של ר’ מרדכי בנט, רבה של ניקלשבורג.
ר’ חיים בן ר’ דוד כיהן כדיין בבית הדין בניקלשבורג.
