Long autograph responsum by R. Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg to his brother R. Nochum Waldenberg on the topic of the Mechitzah in the Beis HaKnesses. In the responsum R. Eliezer cites many sources that say that it is not sufficient to simply have a separation, rather it has to be set up in a way that men and women cannot see each other. He also quotes R. Moshe Feinstein on the matter.
R. Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg (1915-2006), was born in Yerusholayim and studied in the Eitz Chaim and Chevron Yeshivos and married the granddaughter of the Ridvaz. In 1951, he was appointed as a Dayan of the Bais Din HaGadol in Yerusholayim where he served alongside Rav Eliyashiv and R. Ovadia Yosef. World renowned as a great Posek, his many Teshuvos were published in the multi volume Tzitz Eliezer. He was particularly known for his expertise in Halachic questions concerning medicine.

תשובה אוטוגרפית ארוכה מאת ר’ אליעזר יהודה וולדנברג לאחיו ר’ נחום וולדנברג בנושא המחיצה בבית הכנסת. בתשובה מצטט ר’ אליעזר מקורות רבים הקובעים כי אין די בהפרדה גרידא, אלא יש להעמיד מחיצה באופן שבו גברים ונשים אינם יכולים לראות זה את זה. הוא גם מצטט את ר’ משה פיינשטיין בעניין.
ר’ אליעזר יהודה וולדנברג (תרע”ה – תשס”ו, 1915-2006), נולד בירושלים ולמד בישיבות עץ חיים וחברון. הוא נישא לנכדת הרידב”ז. בשנת תשי”א (1951), נתמנה לדיין בבית הדין הגדול בירושלים, שם שימש לצד הרב אלישיב והרב עובדיה יוסף. הוא נודע בכל העולם כפוסק עצום, ותשובותיו הרבות יצאו לאור בספר רב הכרכים ציץ אליעזר. הוא נודע בעיקר במומחיותו בשאלות הלכתיות הנוגעות לרפואה.
