Long autograph letter, regarding the emerging phenomenon of an increasing number of Bochurim from Western Europe who are travelling to learn in the great Yeshivos of Eastern Europe. Continues with extolling the founding of a Yeshiva “Shaarei Torah in Antwerp”.
R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky (1863-1940), was born into a distinguished rabbinical family and was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with great diligence. He initially learned in Eisheshok and later in Volozhin under R. Chaim Soloveitchik. He married the daughter of R. Eliyahu Eliezer Grodzensky, a leading Rov in Vilna (son-in-law of R. Yisroel Salanter), whom he later succeeded. He dedicated his life to the needs of the Jewish People and was recognized as the leading Posek and spiritual leader of his generation, consulted on virtually every Jewish communal issue. He played an instrumental role in preserving Lithuanian Yeshivos during the beginning of the Communist era, and led the yeshivas of Poland and Russia after the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939, arranging for these yeshivas to relocate to Lithuanian villages.

מכתב אוטוגרפי ארוך, בנושא מספרם הגדל של בחורים ממערב אירופה אשר נוסעים ללמוד בישיבות המעטירות במזרח אירפה. הוא ממשיך ומלה על נס את הקמת ישיבת שערי תורה באנטוורפן.
ר’ חיים עוזר גרודזנסקי (תרכ”ג-ת”ש, 1863-1940), נולד למשפחה רבנית מפורסמת ונודע עוד בצעירותו במוחו החריף והתמדתו העצומה. למד בתחילה באיישישוק ואחר כך בוולוז’ין אצל ר’ חיים סולובייצ’יק. נישא לבת הר’ אליהו אליעזר גרודנסקי, גדול רבני וילנא (חתן ר’ ישראל סלנטר), ובהמשך מילא את מקומו. הקדיש את חייו לטובת אחיו היהודים, ונודע כגדול הפוסקים והמנהיגים הרוחניים בדורו. ענה לשאלות הלכתיות מכל רחבי העולם ונועץ בכל ענין ציבורי יהודי. מילא תפקיד אינסטרומנטלי בקיום הישיבות הליטאיות בתקופה הקומוניסטית, והציל את ישיבות פולין ורוסיה במהלך הפלישה הנאצית לפולין בתרצ”ט (1939), כשסידר לישיבות אלו מעבר לכפרים לא כבושים בליטא.
