R. Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz (1879-1954), was the son of R. Shmaryahu Yosef Karelitz, Rav of Kosovo. Although he sought anonymity, turning down rabbinical positions and even publishing his seforim anonymously, he was recognized as the greatest Torah leader of his generation. He had an immeasurable influence on the Torah world in general and specifically on the Yishuv in Eretz Yisroel.

ר’ אברהם ישעיה קרליץ (תרל”ט-תשי”ד, 1879-1954) היה בנו של הר’ שמריהו יוסף קרליץ, רבה של קוסובה. על אף שהוא ברח מאור הזרקורים, דחה משרות רבניות ואפילו פרסם את ספריו בעילום שם, הוא הוכר כגדול תלמידי החכמים בדורו. היתה לו השפעה עצומה על עולם התורה בכלל, ויישוב ארץ ישראל בפרט.
