R. Yaakov Yisroel Kanievsky (1899–1985), was known as the Steipler Gaon after his hometown Horonsteipl. Orphaned at young age, he learned in the Novardok Yeshiva, where he was renowned for his great diligence. Following his marriage to the sister of the Chazon Ish, he served as Rosh Yeshiva of the Novardok Yeshiva in Pinsk until 1934, when he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel settling in Bnei Brak. World renowned, he shunned publicity and lived in humble surroundings, teaching, writing and devoting himself to Torah and Mitzvos. His magnum opus the multi-volume Kehilas Yaakov on most of the tractates of the Talmud was enthusiastically received and is an important Talmudic work, studied in many Yeshivos.
R. Pinchos Hirshprung (1912-1998), was one of the most distinguished talmidim of R. Meir Schapiro. He was a world renowned Talmid Chochom, famous for his almost unparalleled Torah knowledge. During the Holocaust, he escaped to Kobe, Japan via Lithuania and then traveled on to Shanghai. In 1941, he reached Canada. He was later appointed as Chief Rabbi of Montreal.

מכתב אוטוגרפי שכתב ר’ יעקב ישראל קנייבסקי לר’ פנחס הירשפרונג ממונטריאול, בו הוא עונה על הערותיו של הר’ הירשפרונג לספר קהילות יעקב.
ר’ יעקב ישראל קנייבסקי (תרנ”ט-תשמ”ה, 1899-1985) היה ידוע בכינוי “הסטייפלער” על שם עיר מולדתו הורנסטייפל. הוא התייתם בגיל צעיר ולמד בנובהרדוק, שם נודע בזכות שקדנותו העצומה. לאחר נישואיו לאחותו של החזון איש הוא כיהן כראש ישיבת נובהרדוק בפינסק עד לשנת תרצ”ד (1934), אז עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בבני ברק. הוא נודע ברחבי העולם אך התרחק מפרסום ותהילה. הוא חי בבית צנוע והקדיש את זמנו ללימוד, כתיבת חדו”ת ומעשים טובים. ספרו “קהילות יעקב” על רוב מסכתות הש”ס התקבל בהתלהבות ומשמש יצירה תלמודית חשובה הנלמדת בישיבות רבות.
ר’ פנחס הירשפרונג (תרע”ב- תשנ”ח, 1912-1998), היה מגדולי תלמידיו של ר’ מאיר שפירא. נודע בכל העולם כתלמיד חכם עצום ובמיוחד התפרסם בבקיאותו בכל התורה. בשנות השואה הוא נמלט דרך ליטא לקובה שביפן, ומשם לשנחאי. בשנת תש”א 1941 הגיע לקנדה. בהמשך נתמנה לרב הראשי של מונטריאול.
