Long autograph letter by R. Meir Karelitz to R. Yosef Gurwitz of Melbourne, Australia. In the letter, R. Meir describes his recent involvement in the Poalei Agudas Yisroel organization and writes highly of their many accomplishments. He then writes that the organization is greatly involved in assisting Holocaust survivors and is active in the settling of Eretz Yisroel in a Torah true way.
R. Meir Karelitz (1877-1956), was the eldest son of the Kosovo Rav, R. Shmaryahu Yosef Karelitz and a brother of the Chazon Ish. Married to a granddaughter of the Cheshek Shlomo of Vilna, he served a Dayan in Vilna alongside R. Chaim Ozer Grodensky. He immigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1937, where he was extremely active in the needs of the new Yishuv, together with his brother the Chazon Ish.

מכתב אוטוגרפי ארוך מאת ר’ מאיר קרליץ לר’ יוסף גורביץ ממלבורן, אוסטרליה. במכתב מתאר ר’ מאיר את מעורבותו לאחרונה בארגון פועלי אגודת ישראל ומשבח את הישגיהם הרבים. לאחר מכן הוא כותב כי הארגון פועל רבות לסיוע לניצולי השואה ופועל ליישוב ארץ ישראל בדרך התורה האמתית.
ר’ מאיר קרליץ (תרל”ז-תשט”ז 1877-1956), היה בנו בכורו של הרב מקוסובא, ר’ שמריהו יוסף קרליץ ואחיו של החזון איש. נישא לנכדה של ה”חשק שלמה” מוילנא, שימש כדיין בוילנא לצד ר’ חיים עוזר גרודז’ינסקי. עלה לארץ ישראל בשנת תרצ”ז (1937), שם היה מעורב ביותר בצרכי היישוב החדש יחד עם אחיו החזון איש.
