R. Avrohom Mordechai Alter (1866-1948), known as the Imrei Emes, was the third Rebbe of the illustrious Gur dynasty. He was primarily a talmid of his father, R. Yehuda Leib Alter (Sfas Emes). The Imrei Emes led his Chasidim for 43 years, and was the most influential Rebbe in Poland in the inter war period, with tens of thousands of Chasidim. The Rebbe was also one of the founders of the Agudas Yisroel movement. After miraculously escaping the Holocaust, the Rebbe settled in Yerusholayim where he was niftar on Shavuos.

ר’ אברהם מרדכי אלתר (תרכ’ו-תש’ח, 1866-1948), בעל האמרי אמת, היה האדמו”ר השלישי משושלת גור המפוארת. למד תורה בעיקר מפי אביו, ר’ יהודה לייב אלתר (שפת אמת). הוא הנהיג את עשרות אלפי חסידיו במשך 43 שנים, והיה בעל השפעה נכרת ביותר בפולין שבין שתי מלחמות העולם. האדמו”ר היה גם ממייסדי תנועת אגודת ישראל. לאחר שנמלט באורח נס מהשואה, התיישב בירושלים, בה נפטר בחג השבועות תש”ח (1948).
