Classic Sefer on the laws of Lashon Hara and Rechilus. This was the first Sefer written by the Chofetz Chaim and became the name by which he is known. The Sefer was printed anonymously with the title page and the approbations without the author’s name, however (presumably for legal reasons) it does have “I.M Kagan” in Cyrillic letters.
As is well known, the Chofetz Chaim was personally involved in the printing and distributing of his seforim and would check each Sefer for errors before selling it. In this copy on page 46 in the Be’er Mayim Chaim, the Chofetz Chaim corrected a reference to a Tosfos in Masechta Shabbos. In subsequent editions this correction appears as part of the text.
R. Yisroel Meir Ha’Cohen Kagan (1838-1933), was the preeminent Torah leader of his time. He published many Seforim on topics he felt needed emphasis, such as the laws of forbidden speech, family purity, tznius and daily Torah study in addition to his Magnum Opus Mishna Berurah. He also placed importance on studying the laws of Kodshim to prepare for the arrival of Moshiach and published Likutei Halachos on Kodshim.

כידוע, החפץ חיים היה מעורב באופן אישי בהדפסת ספריו והפצתם ונהג לבדוק כל ספר טרם מכירתו כדי לוודא שאין בו פגם. בעמוד 46 של עותק זה בבאר מים חיים, תיקן החפץ חיים מראה מקום של תוספות במסכת שבת. במהדורות הבאות מופיע תיקון זה כחלק מהטקסט.
ר’ ישראל מאיר הכהן כגן (תקצ”ח-תרצ”ג 1838-1933) היה מנהיג הדור והוציא לאור ספרים רבים על עניינים שנראו לו זקוקים לחיזוק באותה תקופה כגון הלכות שמירת הלשון, טהרת המשפחה, צניעות ולימוד תורה יומי בנוסף לספרו משנה ברורה כמו כן, הוא הדגיש את לימוד הלכות קדשים כדי להתכונן לביאת המשיח והוציא לאור את ליקוטי הלכות על קדשים.
