Manuscript of Ma’asey Rav handwritten after the passing of the Gaon. This manuscript includes 117 ‘Minhagei HaGra’, including Hilchos Birchas Ha’Shachar, Hilchos Tefilah, Hilchos Seudah, Hilchos Shabbos, Hilchos Yom Tov, Hilchos Pesach and Hilchos Sukkah. With many variations and important Chidushim to the published Ma’asey Rav (Vilna Horodna 1832).
The sefer Ma’asey Rav which encompasses the Minhagim of the Gaon, was originally prepared for publication by R. Saadiah and R. Yissochar Ber who were among the inner circle of the Gaon. Together with the Biur HaGra on Shulchon Oruch, it is an authentic source of Halocha according to the Gaon, and is quoted in the Mishna Berurah as practical Halocha. It was printed with the approbations of R. Chaim Volozhiner, R. Abele of Vilna and the Chayei Odom, all of whom stress the importance of its printing.

כתב יד של הספר מעשה רב שנכתב אחרי פטירת הגאון. כתב זה כולל 117 מנהגי הגר”א, כולל הלכות ברכות השחר, הלכות תפילה, הלכות סעודה, הלכות שבת, הלכות יום טוב, הלכות פסח והלכות סוכה. כולל ווריאציות שונות וחידושים חשובים רבים לספר מעשה רב שיצא לאור. (וילנא הורודנא (תקצ”ב 1832).
הספר מעשה רב אשר מאגד בתוכו את מנהגי הגאון, נערך במקור להדפסה על ידי ר’ סעדיה ור’ יששכר בער שהיו ממקורבי הגאון הקרובים ביותר. ספר זה, בתוספת ביאור הגר”א על השולחן ערוך, מהווים מקור אותנטי לידיעת ההלכה על פי הגאון, והוא אף מצוטט במשנה ברורה כהלכה למעשה. נדפס בהסכמת ר’ חיים מוולוז’ין, ר’ אבל’ה מווילנה והחיי אדם, המדגישים את חשיבות הדפסתו.
