R. Pinchos Ha’Levy Horowitz (1730- 1805), was one of the most prominent disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch. He served as Rav in various communities including Vitkova, Lechowitz and most notably Frankfurt. He was renowned as a great Rav and Posek as well as a prolific writer and is often referred to as “The Haflo’ah” after his work on Maseches Kesubos. He had many distinguished talmidim, most notably the Chasam Sofer.

ר’ פנחס הלוי הורוביץ (ת”צ-תקס”ה 1730-1805) היה מבכירי תלמידיו של המגיד ממעזריטש. הוא שימש כרב בקהילות שונות כולל ויטקובא ולעכאוויטש אך נודע בעיקר בזכות כהונתו בפרנקפורט. שמו הלך לפניו כרב ופוסק בעל שיעור קומה וכן כסופר רב פעלים. רבים מכנים אותו “ההפלאה” על שם חיבורו על מסכת כתובות. היו לו תלמידים חשובים רבים, המפורסם מביניהם היה ה”חת”ם סופר.
