R. Pinchos Ha’Levi Horowitz (1730- 1805), was one of the most prominent disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch. He served as Rav in various communities including Vitkova, Lechowitz and most notably Frankfurt. He was renowned as a great Rav and Posek as well as a prolific writer and is often referred to as “The Haflo’ah” after his sefer on Maseches Kesubos. He had many distinguished students, most notably the Chasam Sofer.

ר’ פנחס הלוי הורוביץ (ת”ץ-תקס”ה 1730-1805) היה מגדולי תלמידיו של המגיד ממזריטש. כיהן כרב בקהילות שונות כגון ויטקובה ולכוביץ, אך נודע בעיקר בזכות כהונתו בפרנקפורט. שמו הלך לפניו כרב ופוסק בעל שיעור קומה וכן כסופר רב פעלים. רבים מכנים אותו “ההפלאה” על שם ספרו על מסכת כתובות. היו לו תלמידים חשובים רבים, המפורסם מביניהם היה החת”ם סופר.
