In 1840 the sefer Ari Nohem was published in Leipzig. Authored by R. Yehuda Aryeh of Modena (1571-1648) it explores various doubts and disputes regarding the origin of the Zohar in particular and the study of Kabbalah in general.
The sefer Magen V’Tzinah authored by R. Isaac Chaver (albeit published anonymously) systematically refutes those claims and extols the origins of the Zohar and Kabbalah.
Includes a section explaining the foundations of kabbalah by R. Moshe Chaim Luzzato (RaMCHaL). Also included, is a compilation by the Vilna Gaon on the topic of “tzimtzum” (page 63). Details regarding the 1848 incident of the dybbuk of Stalawitz, (near Novardok) are printed on page 35.

בשנת ת”ר 1840 יצא לאור הספר ארי נוהם בלייפציג. הספר, שחיבר ר’ יהודה אריה ממודנא (של”א- ת”ח, 1571-1648), סוקר מחלוקות וספקות שונים בעניין לימוד הקבלה בכלל ומקור ספר הזוהר בפרט.
ספר מגן וצינה מאת ר’ אייזיק חבר (אם כי הוא הדפיסו בעילום שם), מפריך בשיטתיות טענות אלו ומאריך במקורות הזוהר והקבלה.
עם חלק המבאר את יסודות הקבלה מאת ר’ משה חיים לוצאטו (רמח”ל). כמו כן בעמוד 63 ישנו מאמר מהגאון מוילנא בנושא “צמצום”. בעמוד 35 מופיע פרטי מקרה הדיבוק שאירע בסטלאוויץ (שליד נובהרדוק) בתר”ח 1848.
