R. Dovid Ben Shimon (1824-1880), known by the acronym “DeVaSH,” was the Rosh Beis Din of the Moroccan community of Yerusholayim and the founder the Machne Yisroel section of Yerusholayim, which was the second Jewish settlement outside the walls of The Old City. He was highly regarded and his sefer on Eretz Yisroel in one of the most comprehensive works on the subject.

הרב דוד בן שמעון (תקפ”ד-תר”ם, 1824-1880), המכונה גם הרדב”ש, היה אב בית הדין של הקהילה המרוקאית בירושלים. הוא הקים את שכונת מחנה ישראל בירושלים, אשר הייתה השכונה היהודית השניה מחוץ לחומות העיר. היה מוערך מאוד, וספרו זה נחשב לאחד החיבורים המקיפים בנושא ארץ ישראל.
