R. Yaakov Yisroel Chagiz (1620-1674), originated from Livorno and eventually moved to Yerusholayim, where in 1648, he headed the Beis Yaakov Yeshiva. He was of the leading Rabbonim of his time and was a prominent opponent to Shabtai Tzvi.

ר’ יעקב ישראל חגיז (ש”ף- תל”ד, 1620-1674), נולד בליוורנו ולימים עלה לירושלים, בה עמד בראשות ישיבת בית יעקב. היה מגדולי הרבנים בתקופתו ומגדולי המתנגדים לשבתי צבי.
