Collection of annotations on the Shulchan Aruch, by R. Yaakov ben Avrohom Kastro, known by the acronym MaharIKa”SH.
R. Yaakov ben Avraham Kastro (c. 1525–1610), was born in Egypt. In his youth he traveled to Yerusholayim, where he studied under R. Levi Ibn Chaviv, and R. Dovid ben Shlomo Ibn Abi Zimra, the Radva”z. He was Rav of the Mustarabs in Cairo, a position he held until his death. In 1570, he visited Eretz Yisroel, and was the guest of R. Yoseph Caro, (Bais Yosef) in Tzefas. He maintained a regular Halachic correspondence with the Bais Yosef some of which were published under the title Ohalei Yaakov (Livorno 1783).

ר’ יעקב בן אברהם קשטרו (רפ”ה- ש”ע, 1525-1610), נולד במצרים. בצעירותו נסע לירושלים, שם למד מפי ר’ לוי אבן חביב ור’ דוד בן שלמה אבן אבי זימרא – הרדב”ז. כיהן כרב המוסטראביים בקהיר עד פטירתו. בשנת ש”ל (1570), ביקר בארץ ישראל והתארח אצל ר’ יוסף קארו (הבית יוסף) בצפת. שמר על קשר מכתבים קבוע בהלכה עם הבית יוסף אשר חלקם יצאו לאור בחיבור אוהלי יעקב. (ליוורנו תקמ”ג, 1783).
