R. Betzalel Ashkenazi (c. 1520-1592), was one of the most well-known early Achronim and compiler of the Shitta Mekubetzes. He had many distinguished disciples, notably R. Yitzchak Luria, the AR”I Ha’Kodosh. Another renowned disciple was R. Shlomo Adani, the author of the Meleches Shlomo commentary on the Mishnah.
