R. Dovid Kimchi known by the acronym RaDaK (1160–1235), was one of great early commentators. He was one of the “Chachmei Provincesia”, a province in France, which was a great Torah center in the times of the Ba’alei Tosfos. He authored a comprehensive commentary on Tanach, in addition to several important grammatical works.

הרב דוד קמחי, הידוע בכינויו “הרד”ק” (ד’ תתק”ך – ד’ תתקצ”ה, 1160–1235) היה מגדולי המפרשים הראשונים. היה “מחכמי פרובאנסיה” שבדרום צרפת – אזור שמוכר כמרכז תורני עצום בתקופת בעלי התוספות. הרד”ק חיבר פירוש מקיף על התנ”ך, בנוסף לספריו החשובים בנושא הדקדוק.
