R. Yitzchok Abarbanel (1437-1508) was one of the most influential rabbinical figures of his time. He lived in Spain where in addition to his rabbinic duties he was close to the Monarch, serving as The Royal Treasurer. He utilized his position to assist the Jewish community and invested yeoman efforts and resources to rescind the edict of The Spanish Expulsion. Tragically, he was unsuccessful and he was forced into exile.
This sefer reflects the tragic period in which he lived, with reference to the suffering and tribulations of The Jewish People.

ר’ יצחק אברבנאל (קצ”ז- רס”ח, 1437-1508) היה אישיות רבנית בעלת השפעה רבה בדורו. חי בספרד ובנוסף להיותו רב, היה גם מקורב למלוכה ושימש כגזבר הממלכה. הוא ניצל את מעמדו לסייע ליהודי ארצו ככל שיכל, והשקיע מאמצים על אנושיים לבטל את גזירת גירוש ספרד. למרבה הצער, לא הצליח במשימתו והוא נאלץ לגלות יחד עם בני עמו.
הספר משקף את התקופה הקשה בה הוא חי ומתייחס לסבל ולייסורים של עם ישראל.
