Concludes with warm blessings for assisting in this great mitzvah. R. Mordechai Banet (1753-1829) was one of the greatest Jewish leaders of the 18th century, held in awe by both his rabbinical colleagues as well as by the general populace. After the latter’s demise he was chosen to succeed him as rabbi of Nikolsburg and Chief Rabbi of Moravia. Besides his tremendous stature in learning, he was also extremely dedicated to communal affairs and participated in the delegation to the Kaiser in 1791 concerning the draft of Jewish soldiers into the army. Author of numerous important works including Biur Mordechai, Magen Avos, T’cheiles Mordechai, Proshas Mordechai and others. 10 by 16.5 cm. Fair condition. Some folds. Stained with some small holes.
