R. Osher Anshel Ha’Levy Jungreis was a scion of the legendary Jungreis family and a distinguished rabbinical figure in Prewar Hungary. A great grandson of the renowned R. R. Osher Anshel Ha’Levy Jungreis-Menuchas Osher after whom he was named. He learned in the Yeshiva of R. Shimon Greenfeld (Ma’Harshag) in Semihai and later in Chust as a disciple of R. Dushinsky. He was particularly close to R. Chaim Elozor Schapiro of Munkacs -Minchas Elozor, with whom he spent much time in study.
Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom as well as a great Tzaddik he served as Rav in Siah-Kosinec. Part of the manuscript was printed by his brother R. Shlomo Jungreis of Vienna in 1974, with warm approbations of various great Hungarian Rabbonim who survived the Holocaust. These include R. Dovid Jungreis of the Eidah Ha’Chareidis, R. Moshe Teitelbaum of Satmar (Beirach Moshe), R, Bezalel Stern of Vienna (Be’Tzel Ha’Chochma) and R. Moshe Nosson Nota Lemberger of Makow- Kiryas Atta. With additional letter from R. Chaim Ber Greenfeld (legendary Gabbai of the Minchas Elozor) who writes how the author was like a beloved son to the Minchas Elozor.
According to the testimony of survivors he was tragically murdered on a “death march” by the Nazis a few days before liberation. Survivors related how even in the inhumane conditions of the Concentration camps he was constantly encouraging them to have faith, personally continued learning Torah and being stringent in Halacha even under the most excruciating circumstances.

ר’ אשר אנשיל הלוי יונגרייז היה נצר למשפחת יונגרייז האגדית ואחת הדמויות הרבניות המפורסמות ביותר בהונגריה שלפני המלחמה. היה נינו של ר’ אשר אנשיל הלוי יונגרייז, בעל “מנוחת אשר”, אשר על שמו נקרא. למד בישיבתו של ר’ שמעון גרינפלד (מהרש”ג) בסמיהיי ולאחר מכן בחוסט כתלמידו של הרב דושינסקי. היה מקורב במיוחד לר’ חיים אלעזר שפירא ממונקאטש – “מנחת אלעזר”, עימו למד רבות
נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום וצדיק גדול וכיהן כרב בסיאה-קוסינק. חלק מכתב היד הודפס על ידי אחיו ר’ שלמה יונגרייז מווינה בשנת תשל”ד (1974) עם הסכמות נלהבות של גדולי רבני הונגריה ששרדו את השואה: ר’ דוד יונגרייז מהעדה החרדית, ר’ משה טייטלבוים מסאטמר (“ברך משה”), ר’ בצלאל שטרן מווינה (“בצל החכמה”) ור’ משה נתן נטע למברגר ממאקווא-קרית אתא. בתוספת מכתב מר’ חיים בער גרינפלד (הגבאי של ה”מנחת אלעזר”) המציין שהמחבר היה אהוב על ה”מנחת אלעזר” כבנו
על פי עדויות ניצולים, הוא נרצח באופן טראגי על ידי הנאצים במהלך צעדת המוות מספר ימים לפני השחרור. ניצולים סיפרו שגם בתנאים התת אנושיים של מחנות הריכוז הוא עודד אותם להתחזק באמונה ואף המשיך ללמוד תורה ולדקדק בהלכה במצבים הקשים ביותר.
