? R. Avraham Danzig (1748-1821) was a student
of the Noda B’Yehuda and of R. Yosef Lieberman
of Prague. He settled in Vilna supporting
himself through various business ventures, while
simultaneously authoring many important Halachic
works, including Chayei Adam, Chochmas Adam,
Zichru Toras Moshe and many others. His seforim
were received with great enthusiasm and his Chayei
Adam became the basic halachic manual for all
over the region, with many societies specifically
established for its study. Towards the end of his
life he accepted a rabbinical post in Vilna. He was
related by marriage to the Vilna Gaon.
Vinograd Berlin 223. 1, 51 pages, 32 cm. (lacking
final page of addendums). Signature legible, however
somewhat faded. Fine leather binding.
