R. Yisroel Lowey (1787-1869), was a son of R. Aryeh Yehuda Leib Chossid, Dayan in Boniyad and author of the Sefer Pnei Aryeh. Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in Bahronya and later in Finifchkirchen. He famously resigned from his rabbinical post in protest of some of the “changes” instituted in his community by members of the Haskalah. He is mentioned numerous times in Teshuvos Chasam Sofer. Author of the sefer Beis Yehuda V’Yisroel (Lemberg 1867) which has warm approbations from the Shoel U’Maishiv and the Divrei Chaim.

ר’ ישראל לעוו (תקמ”ז- תרכ”ט, 1787-1869) היה בנו של ר’ אריה יהודה לייב חסיד, דיין בבוניאד ומחבר הספר פני אריה. נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום וכיהן כרב בבאראניע ובפינפקירכען. התפרסם כאשר התפטר ממשרתו כרב במחאה לשינויים אשר הכניסו המשכילים לקהילתו. החת”ם סופר מזכיר אותו בתשובותיו. מחבר הספר בית יהודה וישראל (למבערג תרכ”ז 1867) אשר זכה להסכמות נלבבות מהשואל ומשיב והדברי חיים.
