The esteemed leaders of the community describe the activities and importance of these Kollelim and extend warm blessings for those who help sustain them. This historic document provides a glimpse into the early days of The Yishuv in general and of Kollel Perushim in particular.
Signed by:
R. Yisroel of Shklov (1770-1839), was one of the prime talmidim of the Vilna Gaon who immigrated to Eretz Yisroel where he was one of the leaders of the Kollel Perushim. He authored the famed classic Pe’as HaShulchan and Sefer Taklin Chadatin. He signs here “Yisroel Mechaber Sefer Taklin Chadatin”.
R. Chaim Cohen served as Rav of Pinsk. He immigrated to Eretz Yisroel settling in Tzfas where he was one of the leaders of Kollel Perushim.
R. Nosson Nota B”R Sadya’s father R. Sadya was a close Talmid of the Vilna Gaon. As a child R. Nosson Nota recited Mishnayos by heart to the Gaon. He moved to Eretz Yisroel with his father in 1822 and passed away in 1849.
R. Aryeh Leib Leone, was one of the leaders of the Ashkenazi community in Tzfas and later served on the Yerusholayim Beis Din together with R. Chaim Horowitz author of sefer Chibas Yerusholayim.
R. Aryeh Ne’eman Markus of Keidan (1800-1877), was a trustee of the Perushim Kollel in Yerusholayim as well as one of the founders of the Churvah shul. He emigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1817.
R. Shlomo Zalman B”R Volf Ha’Cohen, served as a SHaDaR for the Perushim and was the son-in-law of R. Yaakov Zafir. In 1835, he moved from Tzfas to Yerusholayim. He passed away En route to a fundraising mission to Turkey in 1847.
R. Nosson Nota B”R Menachem Mendel of Shklov, emigrated to Yerusholayim with the first group of students of the Vilna Gaon in 1808 and became one of the community’s leaders following his father’s passing. He passed away in 1847 and was known as Rav Nota HaGadol.

מסמך ש”דר למען כולל פרושים בירושלים וצפת. במסמך מוזכר הגאון מוילנא. מנהיגיה הנערצים של הקהילה מתארים את פעליה ואת החשיבות של הכוללים. עם ברכות לבביות לאלו שיסייעו באחזקתם. מסמך היסטורי זה מהווה הצצה לימיה הראשונים של היישוב בכלל וכולל פרושים בפרט.
עם חתימותיהם של:
ר’ ישראל משקלוב (תק”ל-תקצ”ט 1770-1839), היה מתלמידיו הבכירים של הגאון מווילנא ומנהיג כולל פרושים בארץ ישראל. חיבר את ספרי היסוד פאת השולחן ותקלין חדתין. כאן הוא חותם: “ישראל מחבר ספר תקלין חדתין”.
ר’ חיים כהן כיהן כרבה של פינסק. עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בצפת. היה ממנהיגי כולל פרושים בעיר.
ר’ נתן נטע ב”ר סעדיה. אביו, ר’ סעדיה, היה תלמיד מקורב של הגאון מוילנא. בהיותו ילד היה ר’ נתן נטע משמיע משניות בעל פה לגאון מוילנא. עלה לארץ ישראל יחד עם אביו בתקפ”ב 1822, ונפטר בתר”ט 1849.
ר’ אריה לייב ליאון, היה ממנהיגי הקהילה האשכנזית בצפת וכיהן בבית הדין בירושלים יחד עם ר’ חיים הורוביץ מחבר הספר חיבת ירושלים.
ר’ אריה נאמן מרכוס מקיידן (תק”ס- תרל”ז, 1800-1877), היה ממונה על כולל פרושים בירושלים, וכן ממייסדי בית כנסת החורבה. עלה לארץ ישראל בתקע”ז 1817.
ר’ שלמה זלמן ב”ר וואלף הכהן, היה חתנו של ר’ יעקב זפיר ושימש כשד”ר של הפרושים. בתקצ”ה 1835 עבר מצפת לירושלים. נפטר בתר”ז 1847 כשהיה בדרכו לטורקיה למטרת גיוס כספים.
ר’ נתן נטע ב”ר מנחם מנדל משקלוב, עלה לירושלים עם הקבוצה הראשונה של תלמידי הגר”א בתקס”ח 1808. היה ממנהיגי הקהילה ובמיוחד אחר פטירת אביו. נפטר בתר”ז 1847 וכונה ר’ נטע הגדול.
