Autograph letter written by R. Yerucham Levovitz to R. Isser Yehuda Unterman, (Rav of Liverpool, and later, Chief Rabbi of Israel). Dated Adar 1936, shortly before R. Yeruchum’s passing, during R. Unterman’s tenure as Rav of Liverpool. After wishing him Mazel Tov on the occasion of a recent simcha, R. Yerucham asks that R. Unterman come to the assistance of a distinguished scholar, R. Krasnik, who was in England fundraising for the Yeshiva of Brisk. R. Yeruchum Levovitz (1873-1936) studied in the great Yeshivas of Kelm and Slabodka. Additionally, he was of a student of the Chofetz Chaim. As Mashgiach in Yeshivas Mir, he was considered the most eminent of the Mussar personalities during the period between the two World Wars. Held in awe by his students, his Mussar discourses were attended by hundreds, and his every thought was treated with great reverence.
