Heartrending autograph postcard by R. Dovid Blocher, Rosh Yeshiva of the Novardok Yeshiva in Mezritch, to R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, pleading for assistance for his student’s basic Yom Tov needs for the upcoming Pesach.
R. Dovid Blocher (d. 1944), was born in Minsk and was one of the greatest students of the Alter of Novardok. Upon the Alter’s passing in 1920, he traveled to Mezritch where he established the Beis Yosef Yeshiva. He was highly regarded and his Yeshiva in Mezritch attracted hundreds of students. He continued to lead the Yeshiva during the Holocaust until he was murdered in 1944.

גלויה אוטוגרפית נוגעת ללב בו מתחנן ר’ דוד בלאכער, ראש ישיבת נובהרדוק במזריטש לר’ חיים עוזר גרודז’ינסקי, שיסייע לו ברכישת הצרכים הבסיסיים של תלמידיו לחג הפסח המתקרב.
ר’ דוד בלאכער (נפטר תש”ד 1944) נולד במינסק והיה מגדולי תלמידיו של האלטר מנובהרדוק. אחר פטירת הסבא בתר”פ 1920, עבר למעזריטש והקים בה את ישיבת בית יוסף. היה נערץ ביותר ומאות בחורים נמשכו ללמוד בישיבתו במעזריטש. המשיך להנהיג את תלמידיו בשנות השואה האיומות עד שנרצח בתש”ד 1944.
