R. Yaakov Ha’Cohen Katz-Poprush (died 1740), was one of the most the eminent Rabbinical leaders of his era. He served as a Dayan in Prague and later Rav in Koblenz. Following the passing of R. Avrohom Brodie, he was appointed to the distinguished position of Rav of Frankfurt. He served in Frankfurt until his passing, upon which he was succeeded by R. Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (P’nei Yehoshua). Enthusiastically received, this Sefer is quoted extensively by the later commentators.

ר’ יעקב הכהן כץ-פופרוש (נפטר בשנת ת”ק 1740) היה אחד המנהיגים הרבניים המפורסמים ביותר בתקופתו. הוא שימש כדיין בפראג ומאוחר יותר כרב בקובלנץ. לאחר פטירתו של ר’ אברהם ברודי הוא התמנה למשרה הרמה של רב העיר פרנקפורט. הוא כיהן בפרנקפורט עד לפטירתו, ובמקומו נתמנה ר’ יעקב יהושע (פני יהושע). ספר זה התקבל בהתלהבות רבה ומצוטט בהרחבה על ידי המפוסקים המאוחרים.
