R. Yehoshua HaLevi (circa 1430-1510), was one the great rabbinical figures in North Africa. As a result of persecution, he relocated to Toledo where he authored this sefer. For generations this sefer was widely studied as an introduction to understanding the Talmud.

הרב יהושע הלוי (ק”צ – ר”ע, 1430-1510) היה מרבניה הגדולים של צפון אפריקה. עקב רדיפות, עקר לעיר טולדו שבספרד, שם חיבר את ספרו הליכות עולם. למשך דורות נלמד ספר זה כמבוא ללימוד הגמרא.
