R. Moshe Alshich (1508-1600), was a talmid of R. Yosef Karo (Bais Yosef) and R. Yosef Tiatzik. He was born in Turkey and emigrated to Tzefas together with the Bais Yosef, and later served as a Dayan on the Beis Yosef’s Beis Din. Revered for his phenomenal scholarship both in the revealed parts of the Torah as well as Kabbalah, he has the distinction of being referred to as the Alshich Ha’Kodosh (the Holy Alshich). His talmidim include R. Chaim Vital and R. Yom Tov Tzahalon (MaHaRITaT”Z).

ר’ משה אלשיך (רס”ח-ש”ס 1508-1600) היה מתלמידי ר’ יוסף קארו (בית יוסף) ור’ יוסף טיאציק. הוא נולד בטורקיה והיגר לצפת יחד עם הבית יוסף, ובהמשך שימש כדיין בבית דינו של הבית יוסף. ידיעותיו העצומות בתורת הנגלה כמו גם בחכמת הקבלה הקנו לו הערצה מיוחדת והוא כונה “האלשיך הקדוש”. בין תלמידיו נמנים ר’ חיים ויטאל ור’ יום טוב צהלון (מהריט”ץ).
