R. Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam (1905 1994), was a great grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Tzanz. Known from a young age as an Illui coupled with tremendous diligence, he was famous from a young age as tremendous Talmid Chochom. He served as Rov in Klausenberg. He personally suffered terribly during the Holocaust, incarcerated in several concentration camps. His wife and eleven children were murdered by the Nazis. Despite all his suffering, immediately following the War, he emerged as a leader in the displaced persons camps in Europe, creating a communal survivors organization called She’aris Ha’Pleitah (“the surviving remnant”), which operated religious schools for boys and girls and yeshivas for young men in nineteen different DP camps, as well as a host of religious services.
This rare Haggadah was distributed in the U.S.A. and the pictures depict a glimpse of the Rebbe’s activities in the DP camps.

הרה”ק ר’ יקותיאל יהודה הלברשטאם (תרס”ה-תשנ”ד 1905-1944) היה נינו של ה’דברי חיים’ מצאנז. היה מוכר מגיל צעיר כעילוי ותלמיד חכם מופלג שלמד בהתמדה עצומה וכיהן כרב בקלויזנבורג. הוא עבר סבל נורא בשנות הזעם בשואה ונכלא במספר מחנות ריכוז. אשתו ואחד עשר ילדיו נרצחו על ידי הנאצים. למרות כל ייסוריו, מיד אחרי המלחמה הוא התגלה כמנהיג במחנות העקורים באירופה וייסד ארגון פליטים קהילתי בשם “שארית הפליטה”. הארגון הפעיל בתי ספר דתיים לבנים ובנות וישיבות לבחורים בתשעה עשר מחנות עקורים שונים, וכן מגוון שירותים דתיים.
הגדה נדירה זו הופצה בארצות הברית והתמונות מעניקות הצצה לפעילות הרבי במחנות העקורים.
