Autograph letter by R. Yaakov Kammenetsky to the Ezras Torah organization requesting a receipt for a donor in Toronto. In his inimitable style R. Yaakov also “suggests” that the administrators also write a note to the donor thanking for his support.
R. Yaakov Kamenetzky (1891-1986), was born in Lithuania and studied in the famed Slabodka Yeshiva for many years. He was renowned as a great Talmid Chochom, Posek and for his refined character. He served as Rav in Tzitavyan, before immigrating to Canada where he served as a Rov in Toronto. He later moved to New York becoming Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva Torah Vo’daas. He served a major leadership role in establishing Orthodox American Jewry, guiding the community until his passing in 1986.

ר’ יעקב קמינצקי (תרנ”א- תשמ”ו, 1891-1986), נולד בליטא ולמד בישיבת סלבודקא המעטירה במשך שנים רבות. נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום, פוסק ובעיקר במידותיו הנאצלות. כיהן כרב בציטאוויאן, ועם הגירתו לארה”ב, נתמנה לראש ישיבה בישיבת תורה ודעת. הוא מילא תפקיד משמעותי בהקמת יהדות אמריקה האורתודוקסית, והנהיג את הקהילה עד פטירתו בתשמ”ו (1986).
