R. Chaim Yosef Dovid Azulai (1724-1806), was one of the greatest Torah scholars and authors of his generation. He studied under the Ohr HaChaim and the RaShaSH and was a close contemporary of R. Yom Tov (MaHaRIT) Algazi. He was a prolific author writing more than 80 works on many aspects of Torah. His seforim were received with great acclaim and are classics of Torah scholarship.

ר’ חיים יוסף דוד אזולאי (תפ”ד – תקס”ו, 1724-1806), היה מתלמידי החכמים והמחברים הגדולים ביותר בדורו. למד תורה מפי האור החיים והרש”ש, ומקורב ביותר לר’ יום טוב (מהרי”ט) אלגזי. הוא היה מחבר מוכשר וכתב למעלה מ-80 חיבורים על היבטים שונים של התורה. ספריו התקבלו בשבחים רבים ומשמשים את לומדי התורה עד ימינו.
