Rare autograph letter by R. Avrohom Yitzchok HaKohen Kook, written the last year of his life. The letter is a request for an immigration certificate to Eretz Yisroel written on behalf of R. Dovid Hirsch (Tyberg) Danzinger, the son of R. Yehuda Moshe Danzinger (1892-1973), (Emunas Moshe of Alexander), whom R. Kook refers to in this letter as “one of the Gedolei Torah V’Yirah”. He asks the recipient, R. Moshe Shapiro, to secure a visa for the young R. Dovid Hirsh to emigrate to Eretz Yisroel.
Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook (1865-1935), was born in Griva, a suburb of Dvinsk and studied in the Volozhin Yeshiva. At the age of 19, he received Semicha from the Oruch Ha’Shulchon. He married the daughter of the ADERES Rav of Ponevezh. He served as Rov in Zhoimel, Boisk, Yaffo and finally as the Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. He was the founder of Ha’Yeshiva HaMercazit Ha’Olamit, which is today the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva.

מכתב אוטוגרפי נדיר מאת הר’ אברהם יצחק הכהן קוק, משנתו האחרונה. במכתב הוא מבקש תעודת עלייה לארץ ישראל עבור ר’ דוד הירש (טיברג) דנצינגר, בנו של האדמו”ר ר’ יהודה משה דנצינגר (תרנ”ב-תשל”ג, 1892-1973), (אמונת משה מאלכסנדר), עליו כותב הר’ קוק “אחד מגדולי התורה והיראה”. הוא מבקש מהנמען, ר’ משה שפירא, להשיג אשרה לר’ דוד הירש הצעיר לעלות לארץ ישראל.
ר’ אברהם יצחק קוק, (תרכ”ה- תרצ”ה, 1865-1935), נולד בגריבא, מפרברי דווינסק, ולמד בישיבת וולוז’ין. בגיל 19 קיבל סמיכה מבעל ערוך השולחן ונישא לבת האדר”ת, הרב מפונבז’. שימש כרב בזוימל, בבויסק, ביפו, וכרב הראשי האשכנזי בירושלים. ייסד את הישיבה המרכזית העולמית, כיום ישיבת מרכז הרב.
