Two checks, one endorsed by R. Yaakov Yisroel Kanievsky and his daughter Rebbetzin Ahuva Berman, and the second by Rebbetzin Berman. One dated June 16th 1980 and the other April 15th 1985. Both checks are from the Yisroel Relief Fund.
R. Yaakov Yisroel Kanievsky (1899-1985), was known as the ‘Steipler Gaon’ after his hometown of Horonsteipl, Ukraine. He served as Rosh Yeshiva of the Novardok Yeshiva in Pinsk later settling in Bnei Brak, where he devoted himself entirely to an uninterrupted life of study. Renowned both for his Talmudic genius and his piety, many sought out his blessings. He yielded enormous influence within the Torah world and yet held no official office. Author of the enormously popular work Kehilas Yaakov.

שני צ’קים, אחד חתום בידי ר’ יעקב ישראל קנייבסקי וביתו הרבנית אהובה ברמן, והשני בידי הרבנית ברמן. אחד מתוארך לב’ תמוז תש”מ (16 ביוני 1980), והשני לכ”ד ניסן תשמ”ה (15 באפריל 1985).
ר’ יעקב ישראל קנייבסקי (תרנ”ט-תשמ”ה 1899-1985) היה ידוע בכינוי “הסטייפלר” על שם עיר מולדתו הורנסטייפל. הוא התייתם בגיל צעיר ולמד בנובהרדוק, שם נודע בזכות שקדנותו העצומה. לאחר נישואיו לאחותו של החזון איש הוא כיהן כראש ישיבת נובהרדוק בפינסק עד לשנת תרצ”ד (1934), אז עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בבני ברק. הוא נודע ברחבי העולם אך התרחק מפרסום ותהילה. הוא חי בבית צנוע והקדיש את זמנו ללימוד, כתיבת חדו”ת.ספרו “קהילת יעקב” על רוב מסכתות הש”ס – התקבלה בהתלהבות ומשמשת כספר חשובה הנלמדת בישיבות רבות.
