R. Meir Schapiro (1887-1933), was known as a child prodigy and referred to as the Illui of Shotz. He served as Rav of Galina, Sanock, Pietrikow and finally Lublin and was one of the most influential rabbinic leaders in pre-war Poland. He founded Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin which became the flagship Yeshiva of Poland and initiated the Daf Ha’Yomi program which is learned by tens of thousands to this day. In the course of the establishment of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, R. Meir Schapiro visited America where he travelled extensively among the established Jewish communities fundraising. This volume was gifted during the course of those travels.

ר’ מאיר שפירא (תרמ”ז- תרצ”ג, 1887-1933), נודע כבר צעירותו כילד פלא, וכונה העילוי משאץ. שימש כרב בגלינא, סאנוק, פיטרקוב, ולבסוף בלובלין. היה אחד מגדולי המשפיעים בפולין של טרום המלחמה. ייסד את ישיבת חכמי לובלין שהפכה לישיבת הדגל בפולין, ויזם את מפעל “הדף היומי”, הנלמד על ידי עשרות אלפים עד ימינו. במהלך הקמת הישיבה חכמי לובלין, נסע ר’ מאיר שפירא לאמריקה, שם עבר בין הקהילות היהודיות המבוססות לגיוס כספים. ספר זה ניתן במהלך נסיעות אלה.
