• Autograph letter dated Nissan 1947, to his nephew R. Moshe Yehuda Blau, welcoming him to Eretz Yisroel after being miraculously saved from the Holocaust, with an added paragraph in Yiddish, seemingly from Rebbetzin Bengis.
• Typed letter with autograph addendum dated 1953 regarding the importance of supporting the “Bais L’Pleitos” refugee home for orphan girls who had emigrated to Eretz Yisroel after WWII, to ensure that they are properly cared for in a religious environment.

R. Zelig Reuven Bengis (1864-1953) was born in Shnipishok (near Vilna) and was known as a prodigy from a young age. When he was seventeen years old he went to study in the Volozhin Yeshiva under the Netziv, who called him the “Living Shas”. While learning at Volozhin, his reputation quickly grew and he was known as a sharp student and diligent learner. In 1892 he was appointed Rav of Bodki, Poland, and in 1911 he became Rav of Kalvarija, Lithuania. In 1938 he emigrated to Erets Yisroel to serve on the Eidah Ha’Charaidis where he remained until his passing. Author of Liflagos Reuven.

• מכתב אוטוגרפי מתוארך לניסן תש”ז (1947), ממוען לאחיינו ר’ משה יהודה בלוי. המכתב מברך אותו לרגל עלייתו לארץ ישראל לאחר הצלה ניסית מהשואה. קטע נוסף באידיש, שנכתב כנראה על ידי הרבנית בנגיס.
• מכתה מוקלד עם נספח אוטוגרפי מתוארך לשנת תשי”ג (1953) אודות חשיבות התמיכה בבית היתומים “בית לפליטות” ליתומות שעלו לארץ ישראל אחרי מלחמת העולם השנייה, זאת כדי לוודא שהן מטופלות היטב באווירה דתית.

ר’ זליג ראובן בנגיס (תרכ”ד-תשי”ג 1864-1953) נולד בשניפישוק (ליד וילנא) ונודע כעילוי מגיל צעיר. בהיותו בן שבע עשרה הוא נסע ללמוד בישיבת וולוז’ין אצל הנצי”ב שכינה אותו “ש”ס מהלך”. בהיותו בוולוז’ין הוא התפרסם במהירות כתלמיד חריף ומתמיד עצום. בשנת תרנ”ב (1892) הוא התמנה לרבה של בודקי, פולין, ובשנת תרע”א (1911) היה לרבה של קלווריה, ליטא. בתרצ”ח (1938) הוא עלה לארץ ישראל כדי לכהן בעדה החרדית, שם נותר עד פטירתו. מחבר ספר “לפלגות ראובן”.
