R. Yisroel of Shklov.
Autograph dedication by R. Yisroel of Shklov presented to R. Yitzchok Ha’Levy. Written in a Sephardic style handwriting. The signature reads “Yisroel, author of Taklin Chadatin and sefer Peas Ha’Shulchan, from Tzefas, presently in Yerushalayim”.
R. Yisroel of Shklov (1770-1839) was a prominent disciple of the Vilna Gaon. Following the passing of the Gaon, he prepared some of the Gaon’s novella for publication. He was the leader of the Gaon’s disciples who emigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1810, settling first in Tzefas and later in Yerushalayim. Amongst other sefarim he authored Peas Ha’Shulchan (Tzefas 1836), codifying the agricultural laws, obligatory only in Eretz Yisroel.

ר’ ישראל משקלוב (תק”ל-תקצ”ט 1770-1839) היה תלמיד נבחר של הגאון מווילנא. לאחר פטירת הגאון הוא הכין כמה מחידושי שתורה של הגאון לדפוס. הוא היה מנהיגם של תלמידי הגאון שעלו לארץ ישראל בשנת תק”ע (1810) והתיישב בצפת ואחר כך בירושלים. בין יתר ספריו הוא כתב את פאת השולחן (צפת תקצ”ו 1836) העורך את ההלכות החקלאיות החלות בארץ ישראל בלבד
